South Africa is known for some of the most beautiful gospel music in the world. Rich, cultured, heart warming and filled with praise. We discovered this beautiful Tsonga Jazz traditional single ‘Shibelani’ taken off the album ‘Ha Chanca’.
The album is released under the Rikhotso clan praise name “Mabyisa Tiya Nyamatsini “.
“Shibelani” includes the singing of rural Tsonga women and composer / artist Tiyani Emmanuel Rikhotso. “I decided to rewrite the songs as they were never recorded. This album represents the culture of the Tsonga speaking people,” says Tiyani.
“My musical career begin in 1992 when we formed a pop band called “Central Line” in Central Western Jabavu, Soweto. We parted before releasing and album. I managed to buy myself a Casio Keyboard. After that I started reviving my music ambitions. I released my first album under the band name Beyond my Imagination. It is mixed language album with Zulu, Sesotho,Tsonga,Sepedi and English songs . The album never saw sunshine. I failed to promote the album. I still have an interest of promoting the last track in the album, titled ” I believe in you”.The song was beutifuly sang by Mammogapi Mogapi.
The first album was followed by the Tsonga Jazz- tradition album titled: “Ha chancha”.
Take a listen, it’s bound to want you to get up out of that chair and praise with a chant of clapping.
